– Hartmut Esslinger, co-founder of Frog Design
I’ve personally seen situations where an organization becomes brave and hires talent doesn’t quite fit into the style and approach of the organization. It is always unfortunate when it ends up not working out because the organization tries...

Why we are getting rid of our hourly rate →
Value-Based Billing
User experience agency Teehan+Lax published a post that explains why they’re moving from time-based to value-based billing for their agency. For years I have been charging value-based, and it’s incredibly rare that I personally or my agency New Ezra bills by the hour. I really like the way they explained their reasoning for the switch to value-based.

VIV Mag Interactive Feature Spread - iPad Demo
Fantastic example of how motion, interaction, and editorial content can come together to create digital content. Sure this might take far more time than a standard content layout, but if a publisher can create one to two of these featured mixed in with well designed content this will take off.

Sword & Sworcery
Game developers Superbrothers are getting a lot of attention at GDC this year for their upcoming indie iPhone game - Sword & Sworcery. Workaholism
From 37signals’ book REWORK, illustration by Mike Rohde
Our culture celebrates the idea of the workaholic. We hear about people burning the midnight oil. They pull all-nighters and sleep at the office. It’s considered a badge of honor to kill yourself over a project. No amount of work is too much work.
Not only is this workaholism unnecessary, it’s stupid. Working more doesn’t mean you...

Brian Freeborn and Mammoth Media took advantage of the first nice day of the year to longboard down Goat Hill capturing it all on their Nikon D90. The color grading and track fit the video perfectly.
