Virtual Story Layers
Jawbone.tv recently featured an article on augmented books and adding additional story layers and elements.  I would love to work with a children’s book publisher to develop a virtual layer like this.

Much energy has been spent recently trying to discover ways for technology to simultaneously spread story across multiple media. And while this is a worthwhile pursuit, some independent creators have chosen instead to narrow their efforts, focusing on applying technology to the untapped corners of a single medium. Case in point is media and interaction designer Camille Scherrer and her exploration of the interactive realms of the printed page.

Parrot AR.Drone: Wifi Quadricopter for Augmented Reality

At first I took the video as a someone playing with video composition and spoofing a project, but after digging deeper and seeing the coverage at CES it appears to be at least a pretty solid prototype.  The company, Parrot, created a quadricopter that is controlled over WiFi by the iPhone’s accelerometers.  Additionally the quadricopter streams video back to the iPhone giving the user a view from the device.  The company also published a developer site with an open API for creating iPhone augmented reality games for the device.

It might be a long shot getting this product to the market, but at least they’ve put together a pretty impressive prototype.
